There has been an increasing amount of research into the genetics of longevity over the last few decades, and new technologies enable us to measure different gene variants in centenarians and supercentenarians (who are 110 and over).

Researchers have identified 8 candidate genes in these supercentenarians that enable them to live very long, despite having no real differences in smoking rates, alcohol and exercise habits than the general population. Lucky them!
