Millennials are wary of marketing and finance, which means that credit card companies have had to adapt their strategies for getting their attention.
Almost half of millennials carry only one rewards credit card. According to the report by Aite Group, “40% of seniors (born before 1946) have three or more cards, as do 27% of Gen Xers (born between 1965 and 1980).” These same millennials say that less than half use their credit cards at least once a week.
Credit card companies owe “millennial-friendly” incentives and perks, such as ones that will help avoid overspending and debt.
