Rhode Island’s Board of Education will vote Wednesday night on extending Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green’s contract.
The board will meet at the Community College of Rhode Island.
Rhode Island’s Council on Elementary and Secondary education approved contract negotiations last week.
Infante-Green has been commissioner since 2019. She was appointed by Gov. Gina Raimondo.
The state took control of Providence public schools in November of that year following a scathing review by Johns Hopkins that found the city had one of the worst school districts in the country, citing everything from deficiencies in learning to crumbling school buildings.
