The Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded advocate and vice president of the party’s youth wing in West Bengal, Priyanka Tibrewal to take on West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee from Bhabanipur assembly constituency in south Kolkata.
She was one of the petitioners in the post-poll violence cases in the Calcutta high court, which ultimately resulted in the court ordering a CBI probe.

Meanwhile, Banerjee is going to file her nomination for the bye-election to the Bhabanipur assembly seat on Friday afternoon.

Even though the TMC returned to power with a sweeping victory, winning 213 of 292 seats where polls were held in the recent assembly elections, Banerjee, who had contested from Nandigram in Purba Medinipur lost by 1,956 votes to her protégé-turned-adversary Suvendu Adhikari, who moved to the BJP.
